Kananaskis is both a Provincial Park and a "region" about an hour west of Calgary, on the edges of the Rocky Mountains. It's easily the single most popular area for Calgarians to visit (as we can no longer visit Banff during the summer), camp, bike, and hike. Although the park does bear the same name, the areas outside of the park proper are still called Kananaskis, and most Albertans treat the entire area as the park. Hopefully, the provincial government will continue to treat it the same way and leave it undeveloped.
