Przewalski's horses

Przewalski's horses

Also known as the Mongolian wild horse, these were once common in Mongolia until it went extinct in the wild. An ancient animal, its lineage predates domestication. Many were taken for European zoos, where captive breeding programs kept the species alive until its reintroduction in the 1990s.
