St. Thomas BX Tower

St. Thomas was once a major interchange of railways: Grand Trunk, Michigan Central (Canada Southern), Canadian Pacific, London & Port Stanley, Pere Marquette, Wabash, among others. A cacaphony of tracks led to collisions, which necessitated this building. Within it is a mechanical set of interlocking levers that once controled dozens of switches, all manually operated, to avoid issues in the massive train yard. Only a small portion of the control rods are still visible outside, in the garden next to it. It is a lonely reminder of the massive presence the railways once had here.
