Tatarstan, Russia

Until 2005, I’d only heard of Tartars and Tartar Sauce, which I still presume to be unrelated to one another. Tartarstan, home of the Tartars (not the sauce) is also where we found Kazan, which turned out to be one of my favourite places that I’ve ever been.
